It’s hard to believe how quickly the year has passed. Looking back, we’re reminded of just how much joy has filled our space these past few months. Here at Silk Bistro, the backyard has become a vibrant space for music nights, movie screenings, and most heartwarmingly, weddings! In 2024 alone, ten couples have tied the knot here, and it keeps us smiling knowing there are more to come.
We caught up with Christina Retno (or Eno, as we call her), Silk Bistro’s Marketing & Banquet team, who shared a little behind-the-scenes of what it's like to be part of those lovely days. “Most couples who get married here usually have the same concept: an intimate wedding with only close friends and family attending. No bridal table in sight as well, as they want to really connect and mingle with everyone,” she said. Starting with the concepting and food testing phase, she serves as a bridge between all parties (wedding organizers, decoration teams & clients) and makes sure everything runs smoothly on the big day.
We also got the chance to chat with a few of the couples who got married here to share their experience. When asked to describe their weddings in words, they all landed on the same three: intimate, joyful, and meaningful.
Sekar & Rizka are one of the ten couples who became husband and wife last year. Their day began with a backyard ceremony, followed by a procession that led them through the dining area to mingle, and wrapped up the festivities with an after-party in the lounge. They then showed us the photo above, explaining to us that it captured their whole vibe throughout the day. “Just grinning and holding hands right after the Ijab Qabul. It’s pure happiness, honestly.”
“We actually had this dream venue in mind, Silk Bistro brought that dream to life. Everything looked exactly as we had visualized; the homey feel, the indoor-outdoor setup, the small details. It made everything feel really intimate, not just for us but for our family and friends too.”
The second couple, Shelma & Hajime, were experiencing the same thing when they stepped into the premises for the first time. They were drawn to the building’s charm and didn’t want too many decorations getting in the way. The wedding was celebrated in a casual and cheery way, resembling their daily life as a happy-go-lucky couple. They even transformed our dining room into a dance floor complete with cheerleading pyramids and all the moves.
“We were looking for venues around Central Jakarta and found Silk Bistro. One dinner later, we were sold. There was a sense of unpretentiousness to the building that made us feel comfortable, and the food? Even better than we imagined. From that moment, we tell each other right away: How about getting married here?”
For Davy & Ivander, the discovery was more spontaneous. Davy had been an MC at a friend’s wedding at Silk Bistro and was struck by how warm and seamless the whole experience felt. She remembered thinking, “This is exactly the vibe I want for my own.”
“I think being calm really matters on a wedding day. I could see that at my friend’s wedding that Silk Bistro’s team knew what they were doing, and that gave me the confidence to trust them completely when it happened on my big day. We could just enjoy the moment, knowing everything was taken care of.”

“It's very heartening to work closely with the couples,” Eno shared. “Davy & Ivander didn’t hire a wedding organizer, so we planned everything together from day one. Shelma had almost half of her guests from the cheerleading academy where her students cheered for her in real life. We also had 1,500 skewers of Sate Padang Ajo Ramon served for Sekar & Rizka to keep the after-party going strong. Each couple had their own fun and exciting moments, and I’m just glad I got to be there to witness it.”
As Eno put it, we’re genuinely grateful to be part of these stories, to see people start a whole new chapter and create a core memory they’ll carry forever.
